This magic place is about transdisciplinarity. It’s the Swiss Institute of Rome, where Joëlle Comé acts as Director since 2016. Joëlle holds a master’s degree in film and culture and initiates exchange between the realms of art and science and an innovative approach to connect academic and artistic research. The institution is situated in the eclectic Villa Maraini, built at the beginning of the 1900s by Ticino entrepreneur Emilio Maraini, successful tycoon of sugar beet extraction. In 1946 the villa was donated by Carolina Maraini Sommaruga, widow of Emilio, to the Swiss Confederation. The donation stipulates a dedication to the service of culture.
