Rent a Sauna boat

You can start the day by experiencing lake Zurich from a different perspective and enjoy the sights of the Swiss Alps and the city whilst working out a sweat in peace and quiet, and then cool off with a jump into the waters. Visit the most beautiful police station (entrance) in the world
Cost: free
Admire the breathtaking frescos in the Giacometti hall which are affectionately referred to by locals as “Bluemlihalle”, or Hall of little flowers. They were designed in 1922 by renowned Swiss artist Augusto Giacometti in the central police station in the heart of Zurich, which was previously an orphanage. You will need to deposit an ID card and it is open to members of the public to visit and admire daily from 9-11am and 2-4pm.

Join a boxing class
Cost: Chf 38 for first-timers, pay for 1 and get 2 classes
Join a lunch time boxing class at Lucky Punch gym located in the trendy Europaallee district next to the main train station in Zurich. What’s cool about this place is everyone is given noise-cancelling headphones and you work out to fast-pace, energetic dance music as you bring out your inner Rocky or Will Smith against the punching bags.

Lunch at Bridge

After working up a voracious appetite from exercise, walk across the street to the food market Bridge. They have a wide selection of food choices and if your legs have already turned jelly from a strenuous workout, you can order and pay from the comforts of your table with their app and one of their wait staff will deliver your food and drinks to you. Bridge is a perfect meeting place with a lively setting and they often come up with food themes celebrating different cultures and seasonal produce and drinks.

Art Therapy

If sports is not your thing, perhaps you can book a guided painting experience at Paint Events. Their artist guides will help you step-by-step through a painting from their collection with different media like acrylic, watercolors or alcohol inks. You can also just come and pay for the material and create something of your own.

Try your hand in producing your own music

SAE Institute is a school for creative media studies like Game, Film, Music marketing and programming. They often hold free workshops that anyone of any age and level of digital experience can join like creating Game art and 3D animation, music production basics, photography workshops and also speed figure drawing classes where you get to sketch a model dressed in Anime costume and be guided by amazing mentors from the school.

Evening
Jazz and sunset sessions at Venice Bar
Cost: Chf12-50
After a fun-filled day of adventure, head to Venice Bar, a rooftop bar located at the Schiffbau building to watch the sunset and enjoy a nice cocktail and some venetian tapas. The bar has live jazz music every Thursday from 8pm onwards.

Thursday Jam

If you are looking for somewhere more upbeat and rambunctious to end the night, head down to Amboss Rampe located next to the main train station, beside the big Zurich Brockenhaus second-hand shop. This former car repair shop (Spritzwerk) now houses food trucks during the day and by night, it is a bar that offers a platform every Thursday for professional musicians and closet-singers to jam and make sweet music together – be it funk, jazz, blues or rock. On other days of the week, they organize vintage clothes pop-ups, plant-store pop-ups, poetry slams, Italien stammtisch (for those who wants to know how to order a pizza in fluent Italian) and also Monday ping pong nights.
