Synthesis is a series exploring the embodiment of technology through humans as highlighted through prosthetics. Partnering with new media and design studio Volvox Labs in Brooklyn, New York, creatives Julia Comita and Alex Palomo imagine a surreal world where human and machine become one. The guiding principle behind each shot is pure experimentation.
Through a subtle play of additions and subtractions, light becomes the
silent protagonist, revealing beauty in the darkness. Each shot explores the art of playing with shadows, deliberately eliminating
light to allow the model to emerge from the darkness. The images, devoid of colour, become blank canvases ready to be transformed.

To come up and deliver “Ode To Self”, photographer Rafael Dardes deepens himself into his own artistic, academic and personal research, Human Identity, in order to create and display the singularity of each
character presented. Bold, elegant images, exploring extravagant, round silhouettes, and edgy hair and makeup bring a singular take to the very core of what we understand as Human to each Persona, defying ourselves to take a second and third look to each photograph. Each persona, though different from one another, is connected to a whole, once they, together, represent
