Raised in Sarasota, Florida, Krueger’s passion for acting was ignited by his mother’s encouragement to try an acting class. However, it was only after college and a brush with the world of law that he decided to pursue a career in acting. Ina recent conversation with the actor, he shared, “I was about this close to actually go to law school… at the university, I studied pre-law majors at undergrad, did an internship at a number of law firms… I just stopped myself just short of actually going to law school.”
The experience of almost stepping into the legal profession, Krueger believes, has greatly influenced his work as an actor. “I think the entire point of higher education at this point is not necessarily to learn a skill, but it’s finding yourself… You mature. And I know for me personally, I needed that time to kind of grow up and learn what it was before I delved into this crazy industry.”
Known for his captivating performances in Showtime’s Emmy-nominated series”Yellow Jackets” and other popular shows like “The Originals” and “NCIS,” he admitted that his role on “Yellowjackets,” has been his favorite to play. With its depth and layered storylines, the critically acclaimed show offers him a chance to explore the complexities of the character. Reflecting on the show’s success and awards, Krueger revealed that it’s the type of project he’s always dreamed of being a part of as an actor.
Krueger admits that immersing himself in these intense roles can sometimes take its toll. “There have been many times on Yellow Jackets where we’ve had weeks that are just really, really grueling… And the work that you’re doing is just so immersive that it takes you a while to snap out of it.”
To bring himself back to reality, Krueger relies on his love for sports and the great outdoors. A competitive tennis player for fifteen years, the actor is also an avid hiker, backpacker, and mountain climber. “If I really find myself in one of those moods where it’s just like, ‘I’ve got to do something and shake it up,’ I will go hike up a mountain,” he says. When asked about navigating the competitive entertainment industry, Kruegershared that his approach is to treat acting like a 9-to-5 job, even during downtime. This mindset helps him stay motivated and productive, as he fills his days with activities such as reading scripts, practicing scenes, and analyzing films.
When asked about his biggest influences he expressed admiration for his”Yellowjackets” co-stars, including Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, and Juliette Lewis, noting their passion and drive.
Krueger’s current projects include the renewal of the Yellow Jackets for a third season. He is also planning to direct a short film later this year. While Krueger is not involved in the writing process, he is focusing on directing and producing the film. He is also exploring other opportunities in the entertainment world. If all goes well, he may even make his way to Broadway in the near future. “I’m kind of open to all things that come my way, and you just never know exactly what’s going to pop up,” Krueger says.
We were very excited to hear that Switzerland holds a special place in Steven Krueger’s heart. His first visit at the age of 12 left an indelible impression on him.
“Switzerland stood out to me as the most beautiful place in the world that I had ever seen, “Krueger recalls. He has since returned to Switzerland multiple times, visiting cities like Zurich and Interlaken, where he went skydiving for the first time. It’s no surprise that Krueger dreams of having a place in Switzerland one day.
When it comes to the environment, Steven Krueger is passionate about raising awareness and taking action. He is involved with the Surfrider Foundation, which focuses on protecting coastal areas and the world’s oceans. He firmly believes that bringing attention to the issue is essential.
Steven Krueger’s unique path to fame in Hollywood showcases the importance of self-exploration, enthusiasm, and determination in the competitive world of entertainment. We eagerly await his future roles and projects as they take shape and come to life.
